Anderson South American Adventure Day 5 – Buenos Aires “How do We Know that We are on Vacation if We are not Running Around?” March 8, 2020
Anderson South American Adventure Day 5 – Buenos Aires “How do We Know that We are on Vacation if We are not Running Around?” Rob wakes up at 7:00 to go work out. I had every intention of swimming but fell back asleep. On Sunday there is a market in San Telmo. I had read that this was a place to buy native made crafts. We found out that it was primarily antiques for sale. I am not interested in antiques in the US, why do I want to shop through Argentinian antiques? We thought that we might still go out to shop and see what we could find. After going outside in the sun at only 9:30 we decided that this was too hot so we would enjoy a day resting.
We wanted to get the puzzle page and veg out doing crossword puzzles. The puzzle page was not available so we went in search of a place to veg. We found recliners facing window. I am set for the remainder of the cruise. Now we are still in port so we are looking at a lot of shipping containers. It is just nice to know that I can find a place like this.
After lunch we went to the Mariners Receptions. This was for 3, 4 & 5 star mariners. They offered us OJ, white wine, red wine or sparkling wine. I asked if I could get a Coke Zero. Why yes I could. This is a big deal because I am getting it for free and not having to take if off of my beverage card. They kept bringing me more and by the end I think that I could have swam to the next port. We were in the place where the team trivia would be so why not stay. Donna and I got out our knitting and worked away. I could see a woman across the room from us knitting, She had turned her chair so that she could see us and we could see her. After a while I went over to see what she was working on. Then Donna came over and then another woman. We agreed to meet there at 10:00 on at sea days. And we have a knitting group.
We tied for 2nd at trivia, but there were 3 teams tied for 2nd and 2 tied for 1st. We have the rest of the cruise to win.
Back to the cabin to wait for the muster drill. I have gone on enough cruises that I know to not head out until they call for passengers. If you go out early you just end up standing out there longer and they keep telling everyone to back up so you get kind of crushed and it just gets too “peopley” for me. They got the drill done fast and everyone poured back in. I looked at the hallway and opted to wait a while.
We ate dinner with two ladies from North Dakota. Both were former teachers. I like meeting new people. We have found a dinner table that we like so we reserved it for the remainder of the cruise and just told them to put anyone there with us. I took a couple of pictures of the Buenos Aires skyline as we sailed away. I told Rob that I would give him photo credit for his picture, he had a better angle than I did. His is the one with the window frame and thumb in it.
We tried the stage show and after 15 minutes left. Now we can relax in the cabin while Rob attempts to finish the Sunday New York Times crossword that is missing the last 15 “down” clues.
Note, I was unable to get my phone to talk to my computer. I will get the mentioned pictures posted later. So watch as soon as I post this my phone will cooperate.
