Anderson South America Misadventure Day 14 – Cruising the Chilean Fjords “Lets Make Lemonade Out of these Lemons”
If you are keeping track, yes, I labeled yesterday as 14, but it was 13. Somehow I lost a couple of days in there, but considering all that is happening I think that I am doing pretty well.
I woke up this morning to grey skies and knew that I would not get sunrise in the fjords. I got online while I could since when everyone gets on the free wifi it bogs down. I went to our knitting group and discovered that my circular needles that were separating and I taped together are not holding. I need to find a stronger tape. I am hoping that I can get some electrical tape or that project is on hold until I get home.
I decided to go out to shoot pictures of the fjords. I am sure that in better light it could look better, but I liked the play of light and shadow that I did get. I spent about 90 minutes outside shooting. I kept changing sides of the ship and missed a great waterfall I was told. I found a fairly sheltered spot to shoot from since the winds were pretty strong. I was amazed at how much better I felt after getting fresh air, doing something creative and spending time on my own. Sometimes it gets a little too "peopley" on the ship.
The captain told us that we would have smooth sailing then be heading out to sea later where it would get rougher. They are also still negotiating to find a port so that they can refuel and resupply. I heard a complaint that they are now making pizza with cheddar cheese, oh the horror.
We will go to some port on Friday. No one will be allowed off but we will get 14 days of supplies. That is a tad ominous.
Today they passed out forms to get people medication. More than half of the cruise was planning to get off on Saturday. People had to fill out the forms to get necessary medication. We were advised to bring an extra two weeks, we were optimistic and brought an extra week. Unfortunately people did not see this on the website before they sailed.
We are still playing games and socializing and having fun. We are being kept informed as much as they can since they do not have answers and we still do not know where or when we will disembark. We are heading north and the further north we go the closer to home we get.
We are on the Southern Pacific now and it is starting to roll a lot. It is so bad that they canceled the show tonight to keep the dancers safe.
Stay tuned and enjoy my pictures.
